About Petrus Marais

1 December 1993: Director - established a dedicated Forensic practice in KPMG South Africa. Recruited the required multi-disciplinary skills to resource the Forensic practice and established dedicated Forensic practices in the major centres. Appointed to the International Forensic Steering Group (IFSG) in 1997 and participated in the drafting and roll-out of the Global Forensic Strategy for KPMG. Appointed as Regional Forensic Chairman for Europe Middle East & Africa (EMA) from October 2002 to Sept 2006. In this role was responsible for the development of Forensic practices in the EMA region, regional specialisation and training, regional client targeting, financial growth and performance, regional strategy, and practice quality control. As Regional Chairman represented EMA Forensic on the IFSG and on the EMA Financial Advisory Services (FAS) Board. Led Advisory FAS in KPMG South Africa from 2005 to 2008. For the period 2008 – 2009 was the chairman of Forensic, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Restructuring, Sustainability Services, IT Advisory and Contract Compliance Services in South Africa. Elected to the KPMG SA Policy Board 2007 - 2011. Chairman of KPMG Forensic in Africa and South Africa. Appointed Global Leader of KPMG Forensic in 2011 and Chair the Global Forensic Executive Committee. Member of the KPMG Global Risk Consulting Committee. Champion for Knowledge and Innovation in Advisory KPMG SA. Specialties:Forensic strategy, project management and investigation. Fraud risk management and Ethics consulting.
